The Sony RDRGX7 DVD recorder is capable of producing excellent images and will record DVD-R and RW and DVD + RW. This DVD recorder's colors in its copies tend to be extremely clean, if a bit oversaturated, depending on the source. But the latter can be compensated for by using the video equalizer.
This feature is extremely useful and easy to use. With it you can adjust all important parameters and compensate for washed out colors and detail in the original source. There are instances where your copy will look better than the original. Quality falls off noticeably at the 180 minute record time but is still roughly equivalent to a well recorded VHS tape.
Interestingly enough, if you set the timer and turn the unit off, it will begin recording at the preset time although it still appears in the standby mode. To monitor in real time,however, the unit must be left or turned on during the timer recording.
