(Reviewed 10/17/06) LG Electronics introduces the LG Plasma DVR. It has an integrated high-definition digital video recorder. It’s available in sizes of 50” and 60” and uses the model number LG PY2DR. This DVR features everything you know about a plasma HDTV combined with a powerful 160 GB HD-DVR. The Digital Cable Ready DVR has the ability to store up to 13 hours of HDTV programming or standard definition TV programming of 63 hours.
LG has combined HDTV with recording and upped the HD experience up to a new level. This plasma DVR’s design has won awards from IF Design, Reddot Design and CES Innovations. It has a sleek industrial design with advance features and a built-in stand and speakers. This plasma DVR also has an automatic time-shift frame feature which records continuously in intervals of one-hour.
Additionally it has slow motion rewind and forward capabilities and an instant replay feature. This LG DVR is as user-friendly and enables viewers to organize their recorded programs. You can easily set up repeat recordings of your favorite shows.
There is no need for a set-top box because this digital cable ready LG plasma DVR is built around industry-standard CableCARDS. The LG PY2DR features LG’s fifth generation ATSC VSB/QAM tuner and receives terrestrial digital high definition TV and unscrambled digital cable as well as analog broadcast.
This plasma DVR allows users to store digital photos from their digital camera or music from their MP3 player into the hard drive through its nine different memory card formats. The LG PY2DR comes integrated with 9-in-2 multi memory card readers. The LG PY2DR can also create a music photo album where stored photos are shown in a slide show accompanied with background music.
