It offers DVD+R/RW recording and a FireWire port for a camcorder connection.
This DVD recorder is black cased and has the traditional Yamaha look. It almost looks like a CD player. The Yamaha DRX-2 DVD recorder has the basic control buttons - like play, stop, fast forward/rewind, and record . There's an annoying red light on the machine while it's is in record mode. The FireWire port is hidden under a flip flop door. The DVD recorder has an A/V input with composite- and S-video jacks. The Yamaha DRX-2 remote control has a nice, compact design and fit. Its clean keypad layout also allows you to quickly find any button your was looking for. The Yamaha DRX-2 DVD recorder's rear panel has the usual inputs/outputs with the addition of a component-video input.
Setting up and using the Yamaha DRX-2 is not difficult but unlike the Toshiba and Lite-On models there's no introductory screen to help you navigate.

This DVD recorder is a solid deck but it does not have a hard drive. It combines very good video performance with the DVD+R/RW format’s ease of use. ( DVD+RW discs unlike DVD-R/RW discs, don’t need to be “finalized” to make them playable on standard DVD players). The Yamaha has fine progressive-scan performance.
